killing abaddon
Ok, I didn't do a search on this so I'm sorry for beating a dead horse but...I'm wondering if anyone can help with Abaddon's Gate. I'm a W/M born of prophecies blood and am not in a guild so will prolly have to do a PUG for this one.
Can anyone post a link to a thread on this subject or can anyone suggest tips for skills, group/character builds, and or tactics for the mission? What kinds of characters should I look for when building a group and what skills should I suggest they carry? Also, is this mission beatable with heroes and henchmen? I've only gone through the mission a couple of times by myself (no other live characters) but have not really got the 'jist' of how to do it.
I also read through the GWWiki guide on this mission and Abaddon.
Thanx,
OFG

if you have factions, might suggest going w/a edurance and use bd gold fox strike and wild strike, or go w/p with wild strike FGJ and enduring harmony to get rid of his stance battle scars, gl on the mission btw

As the above post says ..
when you go over the bridge go right take out one group then to the opposite side the other then the center as long as you do left or right then center group in that order then Abbadon himself its a little easir that way..
then run bk and rinse and repeat..you may find torment claws spawing also so be aware..

Since Abbadon doesn't move, it seems pretty perfect for [Savannah Heat]. I brought 2 heroes with SH, and it's pretty much cake.

Ward of Stability helps. Party-wide condition removal too. Daze is just terrible.

[[Martyr], [[Wastrel's Worry] and a party heal in your team really help to make it a much easier / faster fight.

This is one of the few missions in which I used 3 healers. Actually the most important is: killing the monoliths in a specific described in wiki order. If torment claws pop up take them first.
After abbadon stops being vulnerable run from there not to aggro 2 middle monoliths and continue with your order (left right middle or right left middle).
There is a bug in this mission. Sometimes the claws start spawning in a pace of 1 per 2-3 seconds and middle monoliths respawn without abbadon being vulnerable. If this happens you have to restart.
Good luck
From what I noticed going with H/H is more successful than going in a PUG.

Some very interesting stuff here....thanks.
Never thought about a W/P build....I have a couple of empty char. slots too.
Savannah heat looks good especially since it looks like I can accomplish this with H/H. It's just that I only just recently created an Elementalist and it will take a while for me to be able to capture that skill (unless it's possible to cap elites without using a primary character).
One other question tho...is it possible to interrupt a stance? GWWiki stated using Wild Blow to interrupt one of Shiro's stances because of the critical hit. I did not know you could do this.
Thanks,
OFG

You can cap any skill of your primary or secondary profession. So just switch to /E and go find http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hajkor%2C_Mystic_Flame, if you don't want to go through the whole campaign with a primary ele. Then you'll be able to put it on your heroes.
Wild blow doesn't "interrupt" in the mesmer or ranger sense of stopping during activation. But it removes the stance from your enemy. It's not because of the critical -- that's just an extra bonus But basically, enemy+stance+wildblow = enemy vulnerable to pulverize

Probably not the best builds to complete this mission, but definitely safe (I did this with ease). Got the idea from http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Abaddon%27s_Gate_(mission)#Alone_with_heroes_ and_henchies
LoD hero: OwAT02nCVqu6upBcT7uqeolQmAA
Ele hero (most important skill is ward of stability, you may have to manually cast it): OgVCkMzTqYJwVRGnCmGAQ1B
Any decent interrupt build without using daze (got this from guru): OQNDAqsjONgcwFgIkB0AL/dC
Henchies: 2 monks, blood necro, derv
After Abaddon disappears, run to the right/left side until you no longer have agro from the middle group. Should be obvious, but keep your casters away from torment claws, then kill them.
Edit: When you read through GWW guides, read the discussion page, that is usually where I go first.

Ok, I don't know about this because I've never had a need for it. How do I switch my secondary in Nightfall?
Thanks,

Another way to gain elites and skills for your heroes is bye unlocking them with Balthazar Factions. I just got a trapper and got 8000 factions in about 30 min. Just unlock the the skills and tada!

get 2 monks both with light of deliverance and a paragon with cautery sig. Make sure everyone has lightbringers gaze. From there do a normal party. If worst comes to worst use heroes for mo and p.

Hmm I expect 3x [Ray of Judgment] > Abaddon
Take 3 smiting monks, give all of them Heaven's Delight/Divine Healing and Extinguish (micro this) to deal with conditions and damage. RoD and Smiter's Boon for more damage and healing.
Also put [Kirin's Wrath] on them (disable and micro) and flag them up and nuke the crap out of Abaddon when he is vulnerable.

Cautrey Signet works well also, just take the motivational para henchie, and bring a support para with cautrey, it worked well for me.
